Erick Alfonso - Secaucus Board of Education Superintendent
A Ramapo College of New Jersey professor, Dr. Erick Alfonso, is the Superintendent of Schools for the Secaucus Board of Education. Erick Alfonso performs several duties for the Secaucus Board of Education, such as spearheading funding initiatives, executing district-wide re-organization of elementary schools, and collaborating with other administrators on curriculum evaluation programs.
Erick Alfonso began his career as a Physical Education and Health Teacher and, later at Englewood on the Palisades School in 2012. In 2016, the Union City Board of Education hired him as a physical education teacher. By 2018, he transitioned out of the classroom when the Hoboken Board of Education hired him as Dean of Students and Programs. A year later, in 2019, the Bogota Board of Education hired him as Vice Principal for its high school, where he remained until 2021 when he opened a new middle school in the same school district.
In 2020, Ramapo College of New Jersey hired Dr. Alfonso as a professor in the graduate program. While teaching at the college, the Secaucus Board of Education hired the educator in 2023. Some of his accomplishments included helping the district receive $1.67 million in funding from the New Jersey Department of Education to provide universal Pre-Kindergarten education and securing a $499,000 Fostering Diverse Schools Program grant.
He is a member of the New Jersey Association of School Administrators, the New Jersey Association of Educational Leaders, and the New Jersey Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents. In his free time, he enjoys reading, working out, and traveling.
